User Reviews

  • I came looking for a slideshow screensaver to replace the rather uninspired one that came with my new Windows 8 machine. Not many people seem to write such programs, and Windows seems to be trying to see how many features can be removed from theirs. Having said this, it's a very promising design but the current version is a bit lacking for what I want to do. It has an awesome collection of transition effects, which are probably of interest to many users but don't matter to me. The transition time is settable in seconds (very good) but ranges from 0.5s (which seems an odd choice, too brief to appreciate images yet not quick enough for animation) to 9.5 seconds - whereas I want a 30 to 60 second time. It does not yet implement scrolling forward and back manually by the left and right arrow keys as other slideshow screensavers have done, nor the rarer pausing by down-arrow feature. A 'show file name' option would also be nice. As is, this is not quite as useful to me as the similar screensaver that shipped with Windows, but I'm giving it four stars for addressing the problem at all and because it should be something that can be upgraded pretty easily to a product clearly superior to the stock screensaver.
  • GOOD: Could be a great alternative to Windows built-in Photos screensaver. Very nice selection of transitions, easy-to-use interface. BAD: Resizing engine makes images pixelated, sort of like PaintBrush resizing. End result is somewhat like playing a computer game with anti-aliasing disabled. Also, I wanted to get the images display to full size of the screen, but for some reason couldn't turn off the border - it kept restoring every time I went into settings.
